Our New Chrome Books!

We have been very excited this week about our new chrome books. We have been learning how to log on properly and set them up. Today we were able to use them in Inquiry and it was great to be able to look at the DK Find Out website. So much information!  Thank you so much to the Cook Book committee for all your hard work. We LOVE our new technology!

Our Matariki Lanterns

We have been working on a technology unit, designing Matariki themed Lanterns for our school celebration.  We had a design brief to follow - the Lanterns  had to be themed, safe, weather proof (wind & rain), cheap to make and durable. We looked at and compared some pictures of other Lanterns as a starting point for our design ideas. Then in pairs we drew our designs for our first prototype.  Making day was fun! Some of our designs were a little tricky to make and we had to make some changes as we went. On testing day we tested the Lanterns with a real candle - this caused some real problems! We had a bit of melting - but not too serious! After testing we evaluated our designs effectiveness and came up with some modifications if they were needed. On the night of the celebrations our Lanterns looked amazing! Mrs Jackson was so impressed with how well we worked together - great 'Relating to Others ' Room 7!!

Dances For Schools

We had so much fun this morning participating in a dance workshop with Dean from Dances For Schools!  The whole senior syndicate gathered in the hall at 9:30. We were a little unsure of what we were going to experience - but wow! Dean had us moving and grooving! He gave really great instructions and we all picked up the moves no sweat. Watch the video for a wee taste of our amazing dance workshop with Dean.
Thanks Dean and Renee!

Planet Earth & Beyond Padlet

We were having such a great class discussion about our current Inquiry topic today that we ran out of time to share all of our ideas! Mrs Jackson decided to create a Padlet so that we could collate and share our ideas next week. Padlets' are pretty much like a big board for post it notes. Click on the link below to open the Padlet. Remember to enter the password (hopefully you can remember it!), then double click to add a note. Remember to type your name in so we know who has shared an idea. Also please remember to be respectful and a good digital citizen. Keep posts relevant and don't comment on others posts please.
